DATA DRIVEN DEVELOPMENT?
Baseball data has been around for years, batting average is a form of data and was used for a long time to drive development of hitters. The higher the batting average a player had, typically the more at bats he would get and certainly get paid more. As technology has improved, the amount of data we can acquire and the usefulness of it has grown with it. The data allows us to a multitude of things. We are able to track growth, identify deficiencies in their game, view in real time how coaching adjustments impact performance. Rapsodo allows us to expose holes in a player’s game and then create a development plan to address those weaknesses and continue to monitor and measure the success of our training.
As good as the data is, it will not benefit a player if they are not able to implement it appropriately and use it to drive their development. My experience of over 20 years across high school, college and professional baseball has provided me with the skill set to interpret the data and use it to create and implement a personal development plan for players through small group training and individual instruction.
An additional benefit and what is becoming a standard with college recruiters and professional scouts, is the ability to compare your players performance data to the performance data of players at all levels of college and professional baseball. College coaches are now requesting Rapsodo profiles in their recruiting. They can measure the data of their recruits against one another and they can be assured that the data is accurate. They would rather have hard data than a recommendation of an unknown high school coach. They can also compare their high school recruits’ data profiles to the profiles of their own players and provide comparisons for recruiting purposes.
At Ahwatukee Baseball we offer you the opportunity to begin a development profile for your son. Colleges will be able to view not only your metrical data but your development over the course of multiple years. This is hard data that provides an apples to apples comparison between high school and college players across the country. Our combination of Rapsodo and data driven development will allow you to see where you stack up and to what schools you should be expressing interest.
We offer Data Driven Development through the use of our Rapsodo Computing Engines for both hitting and pitching evaluation. Our Data Driven Development training packages feature eight small group instructional sessions with Rapsodo Evaluations at the beginning, middle and end of the training package. We offer individual and team evaluations as well as small group Rapsodo training packages in addition to a variety of specialized camps.
Our small group training sessions and camps are narrow in focus and cover such areas as infield, catching, arm strength/velocity. We also host age-specific instruction, specifically targeted to groups, for example an incoming freshmen camp designed for current 8th graders here in Ahwatukee.
